About PRA

Anthropocene is one of the seven Priority Research Areas (PRA) analysed by the Jagiellonian University under the MNSIW "Excellence initiative – research university" programme.

The rapid progress of science and technology is the result of human activity, hence the current era is referred to as the Anthropocene. In addition to positive outcomes, the progress of science and technology has negative effects in the modern world. In the face of global problems, reduction of the negative results of technological development is very important. PRA will seek answers in two main directions: sustainable development and counteracting the negative effects of the Anthropocene.
